"Why do I even need a wedding video?"

A bride and groom kiss as the sun sets at their Eagle glen Golf Course Wedding in Corona CA
“I don’t know why I even need a wedding video.” The bride on the other end of the phone told me. “My married friends say I’ll regret it if I don’t, but I’m just not sure why.”
As a couple plans their wedding, there are many different services and details they could choose. From handmade invitations to hiring a full orchestra to play during their ceremony, pretty much anything you want, you could have!

With so many options, it can be overwhelming and even confusing to decide which vendors and services are “must-haves”.

So, as a filmmaker who regrets not hiring an official videographer for her own wedding,
here are three reasons why it might be important to you to have a video of your special day.

The Day goes by Fast!
When the wedding day finally arrives, it will go by in a flash! All the moments you have been planning and dreaming of will be done and over. While you will completely enjoy them as they happen, at the end of the day you’ll want to relive some of those special memories again and again.

For me, the thing I regret about not having an official videographer to capture all the events is that I have no video of my husband’s and I’s first dance. It was super awesome, we had spent a long time choreographing it, and while the pictures are great, I would have loved to watch all our cool moves again.

The People
While a lot of us in the wedding industry talk about all the pretty details, you know that the most important aspect of the day are the people with you. From dear family members who have traveled from far away, to your dearest friends who are basically family! A video is a chance to watch them celebrate with you, and listen to the sweet words of encouragement and blessings upon your marriage as they toast your life and future together.

Thankfully, during my own wedding, my mom picked up a camera and went around with it taking to our guests. I am so glad we have those special memories!

Your Vows
The main event of the wedding is the ceremony, and the best way to fully enjoy the officiant’s speech, the readings, and of course, the sweet and special way you say your marriage vows to each other is through a video.

While I don't have video of our reception events, I do have a recording of my ceremony, and I’m glad I have that, because I can truthfully tell you that during my wedding, I wasn’t listening to half of what was going on, because I was so fully focused on my handsome husband!
