The world is full of stories. Every single person on this planet has a unique and individual tale to tell. Even things that most think are mundane are filled with history. Little moments and details that ripple through time and influence others.
I find this fact fascinating, and I want to tell these stories... and I want to do it cinematically, because movies are awesome.
Hello, my name is Mackenzie, and I'm the owner of For the Honor Productions. I'd like to welcome you to our website, and tell you a little about how I got into this interesting career known as film making.

I, like most other people my age, grew up with the golden age of Disney movies, (Thanks Mom and Dad!) and I watched them, regularly. My parents also read to me put great dramatic narration into their reading. I grew up going to see theatrical plays, and was totally immersed in them. (again, thank you so much Mom and Dad!). Storytelling fascinated me. I loved staging my own plays and filming my own movies at home growing up. I also was totally obsessed with watching behind the scenes videos. I would buy certain DVDs because I heard the bonus features were great, even if I didn't even like the movie.

But for some reason I wanted to be an actor. I thought I was supposed to be IN the movies and plays.

During Jr. High, I saw a movie that enlightened me up to what I really enjoyed. This movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. The movie was awesome! I thought it was a percent mix of stage theatrics with a fun story and great film production.

And then I found out they were making a sequel! I took to the internet to find out more about this sequel and what the story was going to be. This search led me to a website called Wordplay, run by Terry Rosio, one of the writers of Pirates of the Caribbean. I read how he and his writing partner crafted scripts, and read behind the scenes stories of making the movies. And I then I said to myself: "oh duh". People make movies! Not just act in them! I want to make movies!

So the next few years I took another look at all those behind the scenes featurettes. I spent a whole summer watching ALL the bonus features on ALL the discs of The Lord of the Rings extended edition. I took classes, read lots of articles, and taught myself the art of filmmaking.
I also took a couple of college classes on filmmaking... and decided college was totally not the right path for me. But that's another part of my story.

My journey as a filmmaker has taken me to many different types of places. I've filmed in the pouring rain alongside dolphins, worked on a theatrically released feature film, and shot documentary footage in 1,000-year-old temples.

I've also gotten to film and photograph many unique and awesome individuals, all with their own story to tell.

I especially like working on personal films. I'm a hopeless romantic who love weddings, and being able to witness the promise and commitment of a couple's love story. Military homecomings have a very soft spot in my heart, because I've spent time apart from my husband while he was in the service.  I also love recording other important celebrations and events, or documenting family history, because life is an amazing gift from God.

I'll be using this blog to showcase the films of For the Honor Productions, give tips on how to preserve your family memories with photos, movies, and digital file storage, and tell fun stories from my own life.

Thank you very much for reading! I hope you are having a great day! :)

Till next week,
~ Mackenzie
